Founding Partner John Mingione says that if you love what you do, the success will come. It is this philosophy that has propelled him throughout his career, from spending summers working construction in his hometown of Brooklyn, NY, to forging one of the most revolutionary and profitable companies in the business. He studied Construction Management at the Institute of Design and Construction in Brooklyn, but credits much of his education to growing up in the carpentry business with his father and subsequent years of on-the-job training. In 2003, Mr. Mingione founded his first company, Foreman Interiors, which merged with Power Concepts LLC in 2007 to create Omnibuild - a full-service construction and project management firm. Since its formation, Mingione has assembled a team that provides expertise in all phases of the construction process, including LEED consulting, energy feasibility studies, data center infrastructure management, engineering design, commissioning, construction management and carbon management. Moving forward, he and his staff have shifted and specified their focus to meet the demands of clients seeking cost savings through sustainable project planning with the formation of the Core team. Mr. Mingione believes Omnibuild will continue to be an agent of positive change in the world by being at the forefront of energy-efficient strategies.
Furthermore, through his work Mingione hopes to change the future and structure of what a General Contractor is - especially in the minds of potential clients and the public, who are suspicious of overdrawn budgets and unreliable time-lines. Communication between contractor and client is key, and the one-stop shopping nature of Omnibuild helps to cultivate that open relationship. "If there’s a flaw," Mingione says, "Since we designed it, we find it, we own it."
Mr. Mingione has worked as a project manager on such high-profile projects as the Cipriani Hotel in Miami, The Rainbow Room, Harry's Bar on 59th Street, 55 Wall Street, The Asia Society Museum and, a personal favorite, The Williamsburg Bridge - during which he worked on-site daily, rain or shine. Despite his list of distinguished clients, John believes his biggest accomplishment to be his family, especially his two daughters, as well as the family he has created at Omnibuild.
